DCTA's University A-train Free Ride Promotion Jul 02, 2018
Starting Monday, August 27, University of North Texas (UNT), Texas Woman’s University (TWU) and North Central Texas College (NCTC) students, faculty and staff can ride the Denton County Transportation Authority’s (DCTA) A-train commuter rail for free between the Trinity Mills Station in Carrollton, TX and the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC). DCTA’s university local fare promotion will be valid August 27, 2018, through January 14, 2019.
How to Get Free A-train Rides
Taking advantage of DCTA’s new university local fare promotion is simple. UNT, TWU and NCTC students, faculty and staff will present their valid university identification card to A-train operators to ride free. Those who plan to transfer to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) at the Trinity Mills Station will need to purchase or have appropriate DART fare on hand for that portion of their trip.

Increased Mobility Options for University Students, Faculty and Staff
DCTA currently provides many great mobility options for its university partners. For UNT and NCTC, DCTA operates Campus Shuttles that connect to the agency’s Connect Bus system and A-train stations. TWU students can ride DCTA’s Connect Bus system significantly reduced rate by purchasing discounted passes exclusively at the TWU Student Union.
The agency’s new university local fare promotion will provide an added benefit and transit alternative by providing free A-train access in addition to the current mobility options available to university students, faculty and staff.
If the university local fare promotion is extended past January 14, 2019, DCTA will properly notify riders in advance.
