To reach more neighborhoods, to support more riders and to offer new, sustainable ways of getting around, DCTA has partnered with Lyft to create more options for mobility. Current partnerships include the Coppell and University of North Texas Lyft programs.
The city of Coppell has partnered with Lyft and DCTA to launch the "Work Hard, Get a Lyft," Coppell's workforce transit program designed to provide local employees first-and last-mile transportation. Employees at participating businesses can request discounted Lyft rides from several public transit stops directly to the workplace and back, providing an easy solution for the extra few miles of commuting.
The pilot program launched on October 1, 2019, and has been extended for another year. Listed below are specific program eligibility requirements:
- Travel must have an origination and destination in the two workforce zones, four rail stations or two bus stops:
- East Workforce Zone
- West Workforce Zone
- DCTA A-train Hebron Station
- DART Trinity Mills Station
- Trinity Metro Grapevine TEXRail Station
- DART Belt Line Station
- DART Bus Stop Saintsbury @ Belt Line
- DART Bus Stop Regent @ Royal
The city of Coppell will provide participating businesses with a Lyft promo code that their employees can utilize to book a trip within the designated program zones. Employees will request the promo code from their employers and enter into the Lyft app. The promo code will only be valid for Lyft Standard services, not premium services (i.e., Lyft Lux, Black, XL or Black XL).
Employers and employees who are interested in more transit savings can check out DCTA's Employee Pass Program that provides a great option for those riding DCTA to transfer to Coppell's workforce transit program provided by Lyft.
Service Hours
Program hours are 4 a.m. to 12 a.m. (midnight) and service will be available seven days a week. The program will not be in operation on the following holidays:
- New Year's Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
Rider Feedback
DCTA welcomes rider feedback via GORequest to optimize the program over time. The agency hopes to expand this service format to other areas within the community.
Cost to Ride
Passengers will pay the first $2 of their trip and the City of Coppell will subsidize the next $15. Any remaining fare over $17 will be paid by the passenger (average Lyft trip cost $12).

The promo code provided by your employer must be added to your Lyft account. The promo code should only be entered once into the customer's app.
- Passengers should open the Lyft app and select their Lyft profile menu in the top left corner of the home screen. The menu looks like this:
- From there, they select "Promos" in the drop-down menu.

How to Schedule a Trip
Below are specific instructions for riders to book a trip through the Lyft program for trips that start and/or end in the designated zones during service hours:
- Passengers should open the Lyft app and select their Lyft profile in the top left corner of the home screen. From there, they select "Promos" in the drop-down menu.
- Users can select "view coverage area" in the promotional section to see the designated city of Coppell Lyft Zones.
- To plan a Lyft trip, choose your pickup location and destination. Lyft will automatically locate a customer's location from their smartphone. A $2 fare will be charged to the payment method entered into the Lyft app. If a trip is eligible for the remaining subsidy, the total estimated fare will be discounted and a message "Promo applied" will appear next to the cost.
- Once a passenger has determined that their trip is eligible for the city of Coppell sponsored discount, they can choose "Request Lyft" in the app.
- Lyft will contact nearby drivers, and provide customers information on the expected arrival time, driver identification, and vehicle information.
- Lyft will text the customer when the driver is nearby and ready for pickup. After the customer's ride is completed, the Lyft app will show the final $2 fare with the remaining subsidy discount applied and provide an opportunity to rate and tip the driver.
- When a Lyft trip is completed, the discount will automatically apply to the user's account whenever a trip is taken within the program parameters.
