The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) will honor veterans and military personnel with free rides on Monday, November 12 – the official day in which the federal government will observe Veterans Day. To receive free rides all day, veterans and active military personnel must show their military ID, state-issued ID with veteran/military designation or discharge papers to DCTA bus and rail operators.
DCTA’s Veterans Day free ride promotion will be valid on the following services:
- A-train Commuter Rail
- Denton and Lewisville Connect Bus
- Highland Village Connect Shuttle
- Denton Enterprise Airport On-Demand
- University of North Texas (UNT) and North Central Texas College (NCTC) Campus Shuttles
“We at DCTA appreciate the many men and women in our community who have made great sacrifices for our country and will offer all veterans and military personnel free rides to show our gratitude for these courageous heroes,” said Raymond Suarez, DCTA CEO.
The promotion does not apply to the following DCTA services: Access, Frisco On-Demand service, Highland Village and UNT Lyft discount programs, Collin County Transit, North Texas Xpress or vanpool services. In addition, passengers who plan to transfer from DCTA to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will need to have or purchase DART local fare for that portion of their trip.
