Effective Monday, August 27, riders traveling within Highland Village and North Lewisville will have more efficient mobility services to utilize to get to their desired destinations. DCTA will discontinue its Highland Village Community On-Demand service and enhance its Lyft discount program that will provide a more efficient and cost-effective mobility option for riders and the agency.
Why is DCTA Discontinuing its Highland Village Community On-Demand Service?
DCTA’s Highland Village Community On-Demand pilot service was launched in March 2016 with the intent to deliver a service model that works best for Highland Village residents, and to provide connectivity to other agency services such as the A-train, Lewisville Connect Bus and North Central Texas College (NCTC) Campus Shuttle.
The pilot service was successful in providing riders with more mobility options, but wasn’t as cost-efficient for the agency. The City of Highland Village is a low-density area with unique mobility needs, and enhancing DCTA’s Highland Village Lyft discount program to serve passengers who utilized the agency’s Community On-Demand service is a cost-effective alternative for both riders and DCTA.
What’s Different about the Highland Village Lyft Discount Program?
Passengers who utilized DCTA’s Highland Village Community On-Demand service will be able to utilize the agency’s Lyft discount program that will have similar and enhanced service parameters, including:
