Next January 14, 2019, the Denton County Transportation Authority’s (DCTA) University A-train Free Ride promotion will no longer be available. The current promotion allows University of North Texas (UNT), Texas Woman’s University (TWU) and North Central Texas College (NCTC) students, faculty to ride DCTA’s A-train for free between the Trinity Mills Station in Carrollton, TX and the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC) with a valid university identification card. In addition, the North Texas Xpress service which was also free for university students, faculty and staff in conjunction with the University A-train Free Ride promotion will also no longer be free come January 14, 2019.
ALTERNATIVE MOBILITY OPTIONS FOR STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF
Even though DCTA’s University A-train Free Ride promotion is ending, the agency is planning to lower its local fares permanently starting January 2019. In addition, DCTA will continue its University Pass Program which provides an affordable and convenient commute alternative for students, faculty and staff affiliated with local colleges and universities. The University Pass Program offers two types of passes – local and regional.
