DCTA will provide complimentary shuttle service for the 31th Annual Highland Village Lions Club Balloon Festival that will be held at Unity Park from Friday, August 17, through Sunday, August 19. The event will feature fun activities for the entire family including a kid zone, petting zoo, live bands, car show, food, arts and crafts booths, and the iconic hot air balloons.
SHUTTLE SERVICE 101
DCTA’s free shuttle service is open to the general public and will operate from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on both Friday, August 17, and Saturday, August 18. The shuttle will run every 20 minutes. One bus will shuttle passengers from the Highland Village/Lewisville Lake Station to Briarhill Middle School, and another bus will shuttle passengers from Marcus High School Sports Facility/Baseball Fields and Tennis Courts to Briarhill Middle School.
Festival attendees should note that DCTA will not operate shuttle service on Sunday, August 19.
FESTIVAL TRIP PLANNING HELP
Getting to the Highland Village Lions Club Balloon Festival using public transportation is convenient and easy. Check out the information below to see which public transportation and fare options you can take to get to the festival:
Denton County Resident
If you live in Denton County and want to take our A-train and free shuttle service to get to the festival, you will need to have or purchase a $6 local day pass and ride our A-train to the Highland Village/Lewisville Lake Station to get to the festival. If you’re a Highland Village resident, you can ride our free shuttle service to get to the festival.
Non-Denton County Resident
If you live outside of Denton County and are taking the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) to get the festival, you will need to have or purchase a regional day pass to be able to ride the DART Green Line and our A-train. Once you arrive at our Highland Village/Lewisville Lake Station, you can ride our free shuttle service to the festival.
Due to limited parking at the Highland Village/Lewisville Lake Station, festival attendees are encouraged to park at the Old Town or MedPark Stations and ride the A-train to the Highland Village/Lewisville Lake Station to catch the free shuttle. DCTA will operate the regular A-train schedule during the festival (no Sunday service). Please note that our we do have some A-train service modifications due to Positive Train Control (PTC) testing. As a reminder, parking is free at all A-train stations.
