The Denton County Transportation Authority received multiple first-place honors for the 2021 Annual AdWheel Awards, presented by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). The APTA AdWheel Awards recognizes the “best of the best” marketing and communications efforts of its members.
There were four award categories this year: Best Marketing and Communications on the COVID-19 Pandemic, Best Marketing and Communications to Support Ridership or Sales and Best Marketing and Communications Educational Initiative (Non COVID-19). This year, a special COVID-19 category was featured to recognize such things as efforts to communicate health information, showcase employees as essential workers and informing the public about new community safety efforts.
“We’re honored to be recognized by APTA for our strategic marketing efforts to educate passengers, increase ridership and garner awareness for the many projects and campaign efforts we executed in the past year,” Adrienne Hamilton, DCTA Senior Marketing and Communications Manager said.
Out of the 363 AdWheel entries received, DCTA received four first place awards in the following categories:
- Election 2020 Free Ride Campaign Helped Voters Get to the Polls (Shoestring Tactic: Best Marketing and Communications to Support Ridership or Sales)
- Ride Safe Stay Safe Campaign Informs and Educates Passengers on Agency COVID-19 Efforts (Comprehensive Campaign: Best Marketing and Communications on COVID-19)
- Ride Safe Stay Safe Print Ad Brings Awareness to Agency’s COVID-19 Safety Measures (Print Media: Best Marketing and Communications on COVID-19)
- A-train Rail Trail Completion Article Brings Readership as the Most-Viewed Blog Post of 2020 (Social Media: Best Marketing and Communications Educational Initiative)
DCTA will be honored in-person at the 2021 APTA Marketing & Communications Workshop in Philadelphia, PA, October 3-6, 2021. The agency’s mission is to improve mobility, air quality, economic development and livability in the areas the agency serves.
