The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) continues to closely monitor the current weather conditions and coordinate with Agency partners to determine and implement any necessary service modifications for the safety of our passengers and employees. During this time, passengers who ride DCTA are encouraged to take caution at bus stops and shelters, in parking lots, and on A-train platforms. In addition, riders should expect delays throughout the day and dress accordingly.
Please make sure to sign up for notifications to stay up to date on DCTA services during the inclement weather. In addition, passengers should also note that DCTA’s Transit Tracker system may not provide accurate arrival information for agency vehicles due to weather conditions.
DCTA’s operations team has evaluated the inclement weather situation throughout the Agency’s system. Below is the status for DCTA services and facilities/offices:
A-train Commuter Rail
The A-train will begin operating a Saturday schedule on Thursday, February 3. This schedule better aligns with Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s (DART) announcement to suspend light rail service beginning Thursday. Passengers can connect to A-train service using DART Shuttle Route 948, which connects to the Trinity Mills rail station. Passenger warming stations are provided at the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC) and the Hebron Station.
PLEASE NOTE: DCTA encourages passengers who ride DART to sign up for their rider alerts to stay informed on delays and visit DART’s winter weather webpage for updated service information.
Connect Bus and Access Service
Beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 2, fares are suspended for all Connect bus service to provide access to warming shelters provided by the City of Denton.
Denton Connect bus service will continue to operate on a regular schedule throughout the evening. Delays are expected. Staff will continue monitoring the weather and road conditions overnight and may make additional adjustments if necessary.
Access service is still operating a normal schedule with reduced capacity.
GoZone
GoZone service continues as normal unless Via determines it is unsafe for its operators to continue service. Riders should check the app for vehicle availability and any service updates.
University of North Texas (UNT) Campus Shuttles
The UNT Campus Shuttles continue regular service through this evening, except for the Mean Green Night Rider (MGNR 116), which operates until 10 p.m. Shuttles won’t operate Thursday and Friday due to campus closure.
North Texas Xpress
North Texas Xpress won’t operate Thursday and Friday, consistent with Trinity Metro’s severe winter weather schedule.
DCTA Facilities
DCTA’s administrative office remains open and the DDTC remains partially open (ticket windows only).
DCTA will continue to monitor the forecast and adjust service operations accordingly to keep riders and employees safe. Any changes to service will be made at 5 a.m. each day.
All future updates regarding any service delays or interruptions will be sent to passengers via DCTA’s Rider Alerts, Facebook, Twitter and at RideDCTA.net/winterweather.
