Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) is eager to hear input as the public comment period is extended to Friday, June 10 for its fares and service model updates. The public is invited to complete an input survey online at dctafeedback.net or attend a Town Hall meeting.
A series of public meetings will be held in person and virtually in Denton, Lewisville and Highland Village. Dates, times and locations of in-person meetings will be communicated once they are scheduled. The next Virtual Town Hall meeting is 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10. An in-person Town Hall meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11 at the Downtown Denton Transit Center.
The meetings provide an opportunity to speak with individual DCTA staff members and other attendees to better understand options and share feedback. Staff is also available to take comments at community outreach events. Public feedback will be presented to the board this summer for consideration. While this public comment period wraps up on Friday, June 10, DCTA is always open to public input via social media or in person.
Updating the current fare and service models will better meet the transportation needs of the public and encourage multimodal trips in Denton County. The goals of these updates are to redesign DCTA's fixed routes to better serve our riders and configure the GoZone service to better integrate with fixed route. Several potential fare models will be assessed as well - from a flat fare to a distance-based fare and including a hybrid fare model. DCTA wants to encourage efficient trips that get people where they want to go, when they want to go and for a fare that makes sense. DCTA riders represent a diverse community with a variety of needs. Finding the right mix of service and fare options is critical to everyone.
For a presentation during the public comment period or for special accommodations due to a disability, language translation needs and to request printed copies of information discussed, contact Mary Worthington at least 72 hours prior to the meeting at mworthington [at] dcta.net () or 972-316-6121.
